Hi, I’m Francesca…
I’m an experience researcher and designer based in the Washington, DC/Baltimore region. I create thoughtful, human-centered experiences that consider not only how people interact with technology but also how they move through space, connect with one another, and coexist with the world around them. My work through TerraUXR reflects the belief that good design begins with genuine care for people, systems, and environments.
I’ve worked across industries including large corporations, nonprofits, small startups, and public libraries, and each setting has shaped how I understand design’s role in social and environmental impact. Before stepping fully into research and strategy, I also spent several years as an animal care specialist and park naturalist. That time deepened my appreciation for observation, behavioral nuance, and the quiet intelligence of other species. These lessons continue to influence how I study human behavior and design for empathy, equity, and shared wellbeing.
At the heart of my practice is curiosity. Whether I’m exploring spatial design, animal psychology, social equity, or the evolving patterns of human behavior, I carry the same question into every project: how can design help living systems, human and otherwise, thrive together?
🎵 Music – I’ve had a lifelong love for music and play multiple instruments. It’s a creative outlet that keeps me curious and grounded.
🍲 Food – I love cooking and eating good food. I learned to cook from my grandmother, and her recipes remain some of my most cherished memories and sources of comfort.
📚 Reading – My favorite leisure genres are science fiction and fantasy, though I also enjoy historical nonfiction and reflective books that help me learn from the past.
🌿 Holistic Wellbeing – I take physical, emotional, and spiritual health seriously. Movement, mindfulness, and time in nature help me stay balanced and fully present.
📸 Photography – I enjoy both surreal and documentary photography, and I love shooting film as a hobby.

My UX research approach
Through TerraUXR, I use a mixed methods approach to uncover both the emotional and behavioral dimensions of user experience. For digital product assessments, qualitative methods reveal why users think and act the way they do, while quantitative data shows how often and to what extent those patterns occur.
For example, when evaluating a web-based platform, I combine moderated usability testing and contextual inquiry with analytics review and post-test surveys. This integration allows me to map pain points to measurable behaviors, quantify their impact, and communicate clear, evidence-based recommendations to stakeholders.
By blending empathy-driven qualitative discovery with data-driven validation, TerraUXR ensures that every design and product decision is grounded in both human insight and data precision, creating more intuitive, effective, and inclusive digital experiences.
